My Audi won't start, need help!
Yesterday my 98 Audi A4 1.8T won't start, will push start Briefly checked it today, the clutch safety switch is good, fuse is good, and battery is good. When I turn the key to ignition, I could hear one click from the starter relay under the dash panel, except it nothing else happened, no sound from the starter motor at all. The lights inside and outside are working fine. Can anybody give me a hint of what wrong with it? The Starter motor problem? I can't reach and check the motor without taking some parts out of the way, does anybody have a DIY procedure of replacing the starter motor? Thanks a lot

Re: do the lights dim when you have the key in the start position?
Probably not, will double check tomorrow, BTW the hazards lights flash when I try to start in the first time. But it never flash more when I keep trying.

try banging on the starter with
a long extension (or metal rod) and a hammer. sometimes carbon builds up around the brushes, preventing them from contacting the commutator.
but, if you're not even getting a click (or multiple clicks) from the starter I'd suspect the starter relay or loose/dirty battery cables.
time to check those cables and then get in under the car with a multimeter and jumper wire to get to the bottom of the matter.
