(make sure the turbo is shot first.) Then take out the old turbo and put in the new one.

Seriously Jerry, it just depends on your level of ability and tool box. It's not a particularly difficult job. STFA for helpful hints. It should be a few hours and requires no special tools.

Here's a video that might help. This guy did it on a gravel drive so it must be easy.

be sure you replace the oil feed line from the oil filter housing, they plug up with carbon. Also be sure your turbo didnt die from oil starvation from the oil pickup tube in the oil pan.

Huskerbob,
thanks so much for your video! It's nice to know that someone cares. In the video it looks like you have so much room where my Audi is a 1999 ,and there is no room to work! The turbo is JAMMED IN THERE! Thats the biggest problem. Does the fact that it is a 1999 make a big difference? Thanks so much for your reply.

Mine is a 2000 so I don't think there is that much difference. You do need to remove the airbox and all that stuff on the passenger side. (I just took a look and I can access all of the fasteners etc. without removing the air box so taking that out will do the trick.)

Google will be your friend but if you are not comfortable attempting the work find a good indy shop and they can knock it out in a few hours.
