Newbie- things to look out for in buying a 97 a4?

No offense- heard audi's 5 speed isn't too great(flame suit engaged)- will be family car anyways

If you want auto check out '98 as that's when tip starts

It sucks. Waaaaaay too much play, especially as it gets worn. If you get a five speed, plan on upgrading the shifter.

I have a 97, and I found out that there are a few things that I thought I would get that I did not, like heated mirrors, sport package doesn't include suspension, and no armrest.

Make sure you check out the differences between the two. It may cost a little more, but its probably worth it, plus less miles.

True, there's nothing truly "sporty" about an A4. Even with a chip.
