Northeast A4 Event June 6th UPDATE...
Here are some updates:
1) We have some great giveaways to raffle off. A4.org is a co-sponsor and has donated a Microsoft force-feedback steering wheel including some driving games. Camra will be raffling Mintex pads, and VW Sport will have some items to raffle.
2) Jason Teller, the founder of A4.org as most of you know, will be attending the event.
3) We are working with VW Sport to assure that there will be a good selection of chips from both Neuspeed and Autothority for both the 1.8T as well as the 2.8.
4) Direct Tire will not be providing on-site installation services. However, they will provide special pricing packages on wheel/tire packages as well as installation prices on wheel/tire, suspension and exhaust.
See you on June 6th! Exact time and directions will announced soon.
Thanks,
Mike

Nor theast A4 Group June 6th Event Details

Autothority Chipped ECU Swaps - any downside?
I just spoke with Autothority (Pat I think) and they advised that they will have chipped ECUs for demo and sale purposes (through VW Sport, one of their distributors) at this event. I asked if there was any dowside to purchasing a chip via an ECU swap versus having them add the chip to your stock ECU. He stated that unlike Porsche, where the ECU is coded with your specific car's VIN, paint color, etc., Audi's ECUs are interchangeable and not vehicle specific. He also said that the type of ECU (e.g., 'M' vs. 'P') did not really matter since a VAG tool used to install their chip would reprogram everything anyway.
Is this true? I may have misunderstood the details but I definitely know that they plan on selling their chip via an ECU swap - any downside?
Thanks,
Chris L.
