Default Random multiple misfire, bad cam gear

I am having an issue in which I keep getting random multiple misfires. OK, so about a year ago the cam chain tensioner went out. Garage said new motor, leak down test said intake leak. 4 valves, NDI'd the cylinder heads, and the head redone all was good. Then bamb, it wouldn't get out of it's own way.
Had the codes read and showed random multiple misfires and the cam position sensor grounded. I had been told that the car will not run with a cam position sensor code and yet mine started. So, we checked the timing and out of the blue checked the cam gear, loosened the bolt and the gear spun. So the key way had sheard. installed a new cam gear, timing belt, water pump etc.
No more cam position sensor however code yet I continue to have random multiple misfires. So, back up some more did a compression and leak down test. All cylinders between 175 and 185 psi, leak down was at 5% to 7% all around.
Replaced the cam position sensor, crank case vent valve and elbow, air temp sensor on the throttle body and others.
I have a Vag-com unfortunately it doesn't have the reg code so it's just a code reader.
Any thoughts to my dilemma?
