Default Rear View Mirror

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what i would have to do about my rear view mirror since the auto tint destroyed the inside of the mirror and now have of it is tinted and the other half is clear. Which makes it very difficult to drive at night. Would the best solution be to just replace it with a brand new mirror or what?

All reply's will be greatly appreciated.

Yup, replace it. New mirrors are not cheap though. I found a good used one on ebay.

I think i have the same problem with the side rear view mirror except i don't think there was any film on it except maybe from factory. It just darkened a bit and looks kind of cloudy, kind of looks as if it is tinted compared to other mirror, except there isn't anything on it. Any thoughts about that? Could it be that some chemical destroyed the mirror?

First of All thank for all the reply's so quickly.

Uamishka - I belive you have the same problem as me, the tinted part of the rear view mirror, also i belive the dealership that i had bought it from tinted the side mirrors also.

Also will the new mirror, after a period of time have the same problem as the one now?

I found one on ebay for about 50 bucks. The car was 7 years old when the old one gave up the ghost and separated.
I did break my windshield getting the old one off though so be careful.

If i am lucky i might just find a mirror by itself without the enclosure and then do a swap.

I also seen that they sell convex mirrors which eliminate the blind spots, and i believe they were $100 or so which would be a better upgrade than just getting a standard replacement

I will try to see if i can snap a pic of how mine looks and post it here. Hey BBoosted B5, can you try maybe posting the picture of yours as well if you get a chance? Thanks!

Steelman93 Can you send me the link to the ebay listing? For now all that i have found have been ones on ebay. Is there other sites that you guys have found that would be cheaper than ebay? Or would my best bet be to get one from the dealership?
