Springs ONLY question
Question for all people who have upgraded their suspension components: I want to lower my A4 a tad (1 inch+ or so F&B) and would like to get springs only, no shocks. I have a 98.5 1.8T, NON SPORT, and use 205/55/16 SP8000 tires for summer, 195/65/15 Gislaved Nordfrost tires for winter. Will this spring replacement cause any problems w/ my wheel setup? Or should I just get the shocks as well? Pricing- reasonable estimates would be appreciated. TIA

Re: Do it the right way and go for both, because you will still have to pay for it in the future.
I second that, since spring/shock combination is designed and tuned as a unit by manufacturer. When changing just the spring ( effectively changing the spring rate) you are bound to have an out of tune suspension.

No way.
Sure you can do it. Then you will have to take it all apart again in 3 months when the shocks go; let alone enjoying the pogo ride before they blow.
If you don't have enough much money for a coilover, buy a factory sport setup in the classifieds.

Thanks for all the replies
Well I guess I won't be going the route I planned. I apprciate all your advice, makes sense now that I've had a few hours to think about it. I'll keep you all informed as to what actually happens.
As an aside, anybody know a good shop in the Metro NYC area that could put the spring/shock combo on for me and won't charge an arm and a leg? TIA. Rob
