For those who have changed handbrake cables...
Just spent a few hours this afternoon trying to get the cable free from the inside of the car and just couldn't do it...
How the hell are these things held onto the body of the car where it enters? I couldn't see any retaining clips on that end...
I was able to move it around a bit and could visibly see it moving around the tube that enters the car, but just couldn't pry it out...they're original and corroded like hell at that point.
Is it just the o-ring that holds it in? Corrosion? Copper ring? Really infuriating...I didn't want to take the exhaust and **** out of the way so I was doing it with everything there...not much room.

You just have to pull it aft. It's wedged in there pretty good. I recall putting a 17mm (maybe) wrench on that collar, and prying it out. Once it starts to separate a bit, a big flathead screwdriver can be used.
