Throttle Stuck Open/ New Audi
Hey all,
So I recently got my first ever German car.
Car is 1999 Audi B5 2.8 Quattro with an Auto trans and 178km
I got the car about 4 months ago as a winter car, and while driving to work yesterday I was on the highway (going about 100km/hr) I let off the gas and the car didn't slow down as much by inertia. The gas pedal remained stuck in the same position. It took a lot of heavy braking to slow the car down. When i put the car into neutral, it would just rev right up to the limiter. I managed to drive it okay, until i had to get off the highway and slow down to a complete stop. I had to put the car in neutral so i could full brake the car, then shut it off so it didn't just rev the ***** off itself.
After about a minute or two I was able to start the car again, and all was normal. I drove the last 1/2km to work. Than drove home at the end of the cay.
This happened to me once before about a month ago, same situation driving to work. Almost literally at the same spot on the highway.
Both days it was pretty cold out, (-15c/5f yesterday)
I'm thinking of cleaning the throttle body and greasing the cable tonight? Hoping this problem doesn't arise again. (Car has an AHA 30v V6, which is DBC)
I know the Audi a6(same engine, same trans) has a recall for a similar issue where ice in throttle plate causes the TB to get stuck open --recall doesn't include the A4.
Any experience with this issue and any help is greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
