I recently installed an S4 cluster (brand new) into my 2001 A4. Plugs went in smooth and they look identical from the back.
The new cluster works great and looks great but i am having 2 issues that i cant seem to figure out:
1. oil temp gauge doesnt work. Vag Com reads proper value but gauge stays down. After long drive if i stop the car and just turn ignition on it raises and then falls back down quickly.
2. fuel consumption on the MMI shows 50L/100km on the new cluster and the old one reads 10L/100km (on my short test after swapping back old one in to see if oil temp gauge works)

Anyone with more knowledge have a clue what I'm dealing with here and how to fix it?

1. , you identify that it from the block that sensor is working , what is the part# of the cluster when you log into the cluster section 17 what is the part #
it is possible that oil temp gauge failed, or something is shorting somewhere, did you try to re install your old cluster to see if oil temp working

2. there is a adjustment available in section 17 adaptation could be channel 10 try to find Fuel adjustment try to add or minus the number and see if it changes

Thanks,

1. I swapped in old cluster and confirmed that the oil temp gauge works, and the sensor works. If the oil temp gauge failed, what are my options in terms of fixing it?

2. I will take a look at that , I have an additional problem with the fuel gauge. I recently had the in tank fuel pump changed and the floater gets stuck (i am assuming) because my fuel gauge never goes past half..

Thanks again..

Default A4 b5 1.8 cluster. MM to VDO

Hello. I have a problematic ins cluster. I bought a second hand cluster. Both clusters have the same part numbers (8D0920900K). Mine is a magnetti marelli -French. The one I bought is VDO-German product. Some dealers say they can replace but some say they can't. Finally nobody is sure, so can it be replaced. Thank you so much.

I was thinking about buying a complete 2001 parts car and swapping the cluster and center console on my 99 audi without lcd display. If I were to replace the entire wiring harness would it then become plug and play to the ecu and be able to avoid messing with all the wire switching to the cluster? Not sure if I can install the can bus? I dont even really understand that...

I have 04/1997 A4 B5 (it have cluster #1) and I have cluster #3 that have can-bus (facelift, digital clock), but can I still use this cluster #3? Immobilizer wont be problem.
