Satisfied Greedspeed/Neuspeed KO4 customer

Just got back from a long drive (San Jose to Los Angeles and up to Big Bear and back) and noticed that while cruising above 85mph for more than a couple of minutes, the water temp gauge indicates a very cold engine (all the way cold on the scale since there are no numbers) also, the oil temp drops to below 200 degrees. Amibient temp was 51 degrees according to the computer, so it wasn't very cold outside. Any ideas what could be causing this and if it could have any detrimental effects? the kit includes a thermostat which opens earlier and a fan switch that kicks on earlier and colder plugs, but up till now, I couldn't see any difference in the temp gauges from stock. <p><br>Greater airflow at higher speeds through the radiator may be responsible, but I really couldn't say for sure.<p>Power has been great--runs up to 130 quite smartly. it would go faster, but i lacked the cajones at the time.<p>Also driving in the mountains at higher elevations (7000ft) really exposes the additional power and boost--lag is increased at higher elevations, but overall, the power dropoff is quite minor and it certainly makes it much more fun to drive through the mountains. <p>The kit has truly been "install and forget" so far, with no tweaking necessary (either mechanical or with the s/w) and it looks absolutely stock. Jason at Greedspeed was most helpful with install hints while my car was apart in the garage. <p>On an aside, I went to the AMS show in Costa Mesa a couple of wkends ago and saw a supercharger kit they were pushing for a 100 hp gain on a VR6 motor. They wanted 5000 bucks for it and felt it was a GREAT value for 100 extra horsies. For less than a third of that, 1.8T owners can up their power a similar amount--what a deal!

Does your temp come back up to normal when you slow down? If so this seems very strange. If not, it sounds like the thermostat has failed and is stuck open.

yes, it comes up right away, and has done it everytime the speed goes up. weird huh?
