Default 03 audi a4 1.8 problems starting

Hello, originally my car wouldn't start (battery was 4 years old) so I changed my battery and car was fine for 2 days. I came back from school today parked my car then about 20-30 mins passed I went back to go somewhere else as I turned my key the car did not start and it made this clicking noise 3 times. I opened the hood and the engine felt unusually still hot(after 20-30 min break). My audi has 105,000 miles. With the given information what could be the possible problems?

The clicking noise is probably the solenoid on the starter motor trying to engage the starter. Since you just did a battery change, start with checking the battery terminal connections are clean and tight. Trace both main battery cables, one will be bolted to the car check the connection is tight and the cable is not damaged, same for the positive that will go to the starter. I found the connection on the starter had loosened which caused this symptom. Remember to disconnect the battery before you check the starter connection as it is quite easy to short out the starter connection to some part of the engine or body when you swing a spanner down there.

First thing I would do would be to check whether the alternator is working well. Find a voltmeter, and measure across the battery terminals. It should be about 12.5 volts. After you get the car started, the voltage should be close to 14v or a bit less. If it's not, the battery is not being sufficiently charged. That could be why it started when it was first installed but has gradually gone down.

Also, reference the previous post, when you're checking the connections be sure to clean them with some sandpaper.
