Default 2002 A4 1.8T Coolant Sensor Code

Hello, I currently pulled a code reading:
17698
P1290 Engine Coolant temperature sensor at radiator outlet G83: Signal too large. No fault type identified.
What does this code mean? I recently replaced the other sensor in the back of the engine head; the G62 one. Thanks in advance.

You need to replace the sensor.

you can change that one without emptying the coolant.
leave the blue cap on the plastic tank tight, you only loose about 1/2 a cup of coolant.

It will be messy, but I would be interested to know how much you lose. And please, do it after it has sat overnight.
