the variable intake manifold system adds 15-20 hp and torque to the engine output. So driving around with it inoperable is hurting performance. Whether or not you are keen enough to notice that loss of power is another question. Its an excellent system considering gaining that much hp by other means would be very expensive ! It would be nice if Audi (and just about every other manufacturer) would use higher quality parts in this variable intake system. The physics are proven though, which is why you see variable intakes on most normally aspirated engines nowadays. Great idea, **** execution (as usual)

hello guys, greatings from Lithuania. I recently bought an audi a4 b6 with 3.0 heart. The problem came out as multiple missfire in cylinders of 1, 2 and 3. I changed the spark plugs and coils and the problem is almost disapear. 1st cylinder almoust do not missfiring, second and 3rd still missfiring but much more less. and my vacuum actuator arms is not broken, but I still can not operate it, I can activate it by hand, that is, that the entire cylinder assembly that runs through the intake manifold is apparently broken into pieces. I have noticed a difference in power output and poor fuel economy.

So... Can I ubolt the front part of the actuator and separate it from the cylindrical part going into the manifold or do I need to remove the manifold to get the whole unit out?

Hi @rs4steve

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I've broken (I think) the front bit off from the cylinder inside the manifold. Will be taking the manifold off tomorrow to get at it all (and to swap my thermostat while I'm at it) but wondered if you had any useful top tips to help me out.

Appreciate any comments and advice.

Julian
