Default 2002 Audi A4 stuck in park, no key...help!!!

OK, forgive my "so not mechanically inclined'ness" here, but I'm in a pickle. My sweet son lost his only key to his 2002 Audi A4, 1.8T (not quattro). We live in a very rural area and now have to load it onto a trailer and tow it to the dealer.. oh, p.s. the nearest dealer is 3 hours away! To pay somebody to tow it that far would probably cost more than we paid for the car! My husband is pretty good at doing things himself, but is going crazy trying to get this car out of park to load it! I have found instructions on manual release for several different years of A4's and we took the whole gear shift apart and none of the examples match our setup. He also can't seem to find the shift cable under the car that should run to the side of the transmission (again, forgive my lingo). Has anybody had success getting a 2002 A4 out of park without a key?? Please, no 'should have had an extra key made' lectures... I know, I know.. Thank you for ANY help!!!

P.S. His car is an automatic Tiptronic and has that CVT transmission.

If you get no answers here, you could try calling the dealer to see if they can guide you on releasing the interlock,

Some tow companies have dollies they can put a car on. Might call around and see if you can find one of those companies.

Or, some towing companies have a flat bed truck that they can use to transport your vehicle (i.e. no wheels touching the ground). When you sort this thing out, it is best to buy two new keys and keep one in the house as a spare in case of emergencies like this.

Wow no advice sorry to see that. I have a similar issue only I have a key but my 2007 Audi A4 is stuck in park. And so far I haven't gotten a response either. Have you had any luck? I've watched video's as well and they don't match my vehicle. They show a gear shift release under the ash tray. Did you look there?
