My 3.0L B6 has about three high revs everytime I cold start it. It almost reaches 2k RPMs before it reaches the regular idle level. I've replaced my faulty MAF sensor assuming that would solve the problem but I'm having no luck. Sometimes after putting it into park after driving for a little while the RPMs bounce from 1k-1.2k RPMS. Any ideas on what it could be? Just wanted to add the fact that this all progressively happened after I had my exhaust done, my cats are still there so I'm a little stumped to as why that may have caused it. The engine light turns off an on every few days and I'm pulling P1142 from my VAGCOM, which is why I initially thought MAF sensor but like I said I have replaced it. My next thought would be throttle body? Any ideas?

Not that familiar with the 3.0, but the symptoms you describe are exactly what my 1.8t did with a busted check valve, i.e. I had a vacuum leak.
