Default A4 3.0 P0011 Camshaft Position - Timing Over Advanced

So I've been driving my car with this code on since I bought it (about 3,000 miles) and I haven't noticed anything really. It's a little jumping when I press the gas, also delayed reaction sometimes. Not sure if that relates.

I've cleared the code and it comes right back. I had the bank 2 sensor code as well and just wiggled the connection some and it went away, tried same with bank 1 with no luck.

Is this serious or not so much?

This could be several things from an improper belt replacement before you got the car to as you note a simple sensor. Without any of the maintenance history, you won't know. As far as seriousness, the ECU will adjust to protect the engine, but if your state is like mine, you won't get a new registration without fixing it.

Larger city in Texas; look to the left...

Unfortunately, to solve your problem, you are just going to have to start diagnosing. Sensors and harnesses are a good start.

In CT, any CEL is automatic fail. In addition, I think you can have no more than 1 monitor not clear.

In MT we do what we want. No testing here.

But to help the OP is sounds like either an issue with a timing belt install or an issue with the system that changes the cam timing. It can be diagnosed with VCDS but either issue is not going to be an easy fix.
