Default Alarm lost beep

My alarm doesn't beep. Lights flash as if it's arming but no beep ever. Not when hitting panic or opening doors. Checked fuses but didn't find any correlation. Any ideas? Hope my silent flashing lights scares people away.

You just hit 100k miles, congratulations! Welcome to the club.

PS, my beeper stopped beeping too...perhaps there is a solution out there?

need more info, faults?
does the lights flash when you open the doors as if the alarm get activated?
if so, check the fault for alarm horn, it has it's own back-up battery and usually corrodes the connector, is located in the trunk in sedans and on the passenger side under the cober for the top on convertibles

Thanks for the suggestion. I will def look into this. I haven't pulled any codes b/c I don't have the reader. Lights seem to function completely normal as if the alarm is fully functioning on mute. I'll take a look at the connector and update in hopes of curing other people similar issue.

Good suggestions. If you get nowhere with those, I have a similar problem. But first a question: when you hit the key fob and the lights flash, does the driver's door (or for that matter any door) not lock? If so, I would bet the harness in the door is broken not allowing the lock to be commanded lock and therefore the alarm not setting. That is my issue. See the recent link below for long and boring dissertations on the subject.

The doors do in fact lock when I hit the key. I gotta check the connector like mentioned earlier in the thread and see if that is the issue. Good luck with that harness.

Odds are the alarm module battery is shot. It could also be another electrical issue.

If your door locks, then I would say that shoots my theory. I now lean toward the battery in the module as well.

I have the same issue - no beep, but the alarm is fully functional. Is the alarm module in the rear trunk area on the Avant? Any pictures you might be able to share so I know what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

piblondin, did you get your issue fixed? If not, the link below looks like a good DIY.

nwa4avant, based on the location in the sedan, I would bet it is in the same location. Look at the DIY above.
