Another "PRNDS backlit". 2004 1,9 tdi
Hi guys! :-)
This is my first post here, and please excuse my bad english - it is not my native language..
Sooo, I was fortunate enough to get the beloved backlit PRNDS-fault a couple of months ago. I have googled, cursed and cried ever since, but I cant seem to figure out the problem.
I had the entire gear selector out just now, and cleaned everything thoroughly (including the lever position-magnets and the circuit board). When I put it all back together, the problem is still there.
Does that mean that it didn't work, or would I have to reset the fault code in Vag-com? I do have VCDS, but i always get the "too many communication errors to continue"-message every time I try to scan the Automatic Gearbox..
The car has done 240.000km (150.000 miles), and the gearbox was flushed 40.000km ago.
Car:
2004, A4 1,9 Tdi MLT (S-line)
Any suggestions?
I love my A4, and would hate for it to be worthless because of a silly gearbox-issue (which you cant even notice driving it)
Please help me help my poor car back to health!

No matter what I do, i can´t communicate with the gearbox. All the other modules on the car seems to work, and aside from a faulty g62 sensor, there is nothing wrong with the car (apparently). "Too Many Comminications Errors to Continue" is all i get when I try scanning the 02 - Auto-trans module.
I have tried all the "tricks" in the Ross-Tech book (deactivating all antivirus software, trying another computer etc.) except disconnecting the battery - I have no idea what the security code on the radio is..
Does anyone have the slightest clue what this can be? I´m assuming that the connection problem is related to the backlit PRNDS, and the TCU needs to be replaced (even though this was done a few years back)
Anyone?

You won't need the security code for the radio in a 2004 since it will see the instrument cluster and as long as it's the same VIN won't ask for the code.
