Default 03 3.0 quattro Leaking coolant near fire or tranny wall

I just finished replacing both valve covers, ignition coils, plugs, and resealed lower oil pan. The only contact I had with coolant was draining the overflow to get to the left valve cover as well as bleeding it from the heater core hoses. I'm not sure because it's difficult to see but I may have damaged the heater core inlet/outlet (top hose connect of heater core) trying to get to the bleeder on the hose.

There is no coolant coming into the cab and I have a lot of coolant flowing out with vehicle running from around the fire wall or maybe near the tranny (again very hard to see).

My question is, if that top hose inlet/outlet part of the heater core were broken inside the rubber gromet, would it leak from the engine compartment or into the cabin? Also is there any play to the piping on the heater core? I have a slight bit of movement.

Not sure the setup on the 3.0, but if it were the 1.8, I would say aft coolant flange or heater hose. In my case, I replaced the coolant flange only to still have a leak from the heater line going into the heater core. There is a spring clip that had gotten weak and was not providing adequate pressure to seal the connection. Below is a link to a picture of the spring that was defective on mine. Maybe the 3.0 has a similar hose.

Thanks for the pics, I'll check that. When that clip broke did you have a large leak and was it coming into the cabin or did it flow down under the vehicle? I don't have anything coming in the cabin. What kind of repair am I looking at? My chilton isn't helping much with that clip.

Under the car. I simply purchased the hose and replaced. Little hard because of access, but "easy"...

Thanks for the help. Turned out to be the heater core hose just below the battery compartment
