Default B6 Thermostat Housing

Had a coolant leak and found it to be leaking from the top of the thermostat housing assembly (where the hose connects on topside of motor). At first didn't think it would be a thermostat housing because it was plastic, but I've come to learn that's exactly what it is.

In need of someone to point me in the right direction to order a replacement part. I always try to avoid the stealership whenever I can. Also since I'm doing the housing I mind as well do the thermostat while I'm in there I'm guessing.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

Also do I need to remove the intake and fuel rail in order to replace the thermostat housing, or will there be enough room to remove it without doing this. Thanks again

Chris

You didn't mention the engine size & model so assuming its the 1.8T mine was part number 06B121111K (you need to check this part number for yours!) .
I use a couple of different suppliers in the US, I have found them all good, for the most part for me it comes down to being able to create an online shopping cart, and then the shipping time & cost to Australia plays a big part.

There are plenty to choose from but I have found the following (in no particular order preference) offer really good web sites and service, and for me, international shipping at reasonable rates:
ECS Tuning
Europaparts
Pelican parts
Blauparts.

I know ECS offer a 'kit' for this part which included new hardware etc which is handy. They all offer a genuine item, and generally at least 1 aftermarket alternative, often the same brand as the OEM, just not in the Audi packaging.

I did mine when I had the front clip off to do the belts and water pump, which gave me direct access. I don't recall taking the fuel rail off.

The thermostat and the housing are all one piece if it's the 1.8t they cost around $90 if your changing it out you would also want to change to J plug. I think ECS sells them as a set. If not the J plug is only $6 at the dealer

Sorry I meant to say the J plug. It's located right next to the stat housing also there is a sensor that comes part of the stat housing. Hope this helps
