Burn hoses and filter oposite side of gas cap?
Hi, I have a 2002 A4 I bought at an auction. The place between the back bumper and the tire, opposite side of the gas tank all the way to the bottom it got burned or melted the plastic and hoses in there. My question are: what are the hoses that are there and for what purpose (there is an air filter as well)? What would be the parts names so i can replace them. What could have caused the fire or the melting? The exhaust is there and the hoses run through there but there are heat shields. When I put gas it says that its full and then it will give me an empty reading after a couple of miles I have not checked to see if all the fuel is leaking. Any input will be apreciated

It might be part of the Evap system. Just a guess, but if you call audi and give the parts department your vin # they should be able to help you.
