Default Car died while driving. Won't start

Hello. My 2005 A4 B6 1.8T Quattro MT died while driving yesterday. After that, I tried restarting it and for a few tries it tried to kick over but wouldn't quite catch.

My first guess was fuel pump. I tried lifting the back seat and beating on it but didn't work. I figure next, I may check the relay or fuses.
Any other suggestions as to what to check?

Check codes with a VAGCOM reader. Sounds a lot like an ESS, Engine Speed Sensor.

Maybe the fuel filter if that has not been changed if it is a fuel issue. VAGCOM would be my first stop to look at. It does sound like the engine speed sensor, that is what my car did about 3 years ago.
