The dreaded flashing brake light (a perhaps unique problem - at least not standard)
Hello all - long time lurker, and I'm stumped.
2003 A4 1.8T quattro
I've read through dozens of discussions about this problem and promise I've tried to not ask this question again, as I know it's common.
Couple months back - ABS, EMC light on. Speedometer killed. Eventually the brake light started the flashing/beeping on right hands turns. I shopped replacing the ABS (shout out to Cheap-ABS.com) when the brake light would flash on with any slight right hand turn.
Replace ABS module. ABS/EMC lights gone, speedometer back, no more weird feeling in the brakes. All was right in the world.
Then the parking brake light flashed on a hard right. I checked brake fluid - it was fine, but topped it off anyway. I finger-cleaned the mesh in the brake fluid reservoir too, as I had read that could help.
This somehow immediately made it worse. Now it's flashing/beeping continuously. THEN - the ABS/EMC came BACK on - albeit differently. The speedometer is still fine and the brakes feel perfect. But the lights are on.
I have not pulled codes yet (primarily because I have an unrelated constant emissions failure that throws all sorts of codes that I'm not skilled enough to diagnose, and my plates are TN and don't require emission testing).
Any ideas? I'm going nuts. Thanks.

Ok code pulled - P0501 Speed Sensor. Looking into that, it doesn't necessarily tell the exact problem, as I guess that could be either the vehicle speed sensor or the ABS speed spensor. It sounds more like the ABS, since the light is on, and the speedometer works. Would a faulty ABS speed sensor trip the flashing brake light?
