Why do you "...want to be sold on the A4."?
Think about what you're saying. You WANT to be sold on the higher priced car. If you're already sold on the VW, I don't see what the problem is. Unless name brand is very important for you. But if that were the case, you'd most likely be looking at BMW's.

The difference? Go drive both back to back. If you can't tell, then you only drive at 5/10ths and
should get the Passat.

Confusion on 4Motion - Passat uses Torsen...
4Motion and Quattro are both trademark names, not technology names. VW/Audi's with longitudinal engines use Torsen. Those with transverse engines use Haldex.
