So i changed out the seal today. Its still leaking unfortunately. For anyone that has done the change before what did you use to press the new seal in? I used a 3in PVC pipe end that took my time pressing the new seal in nice and even.

I'll take it apart tomorrow and have a look.

after looking again, it looks like the leak is coming from the top of the transmission. It isn't thick gear oil. I'm starting to think its more ATF but i have no idea how to locate and fix it.

Just to clarify, was it The temp sensor for the automatic transmission? And it is located on the top of the transmission?

nope, it was the coolant temp sensor, its on the back of the engine under the hard plastic part of the intake. It is green and very easy to change once you take off the intake. There is a DIY i found by googling it.

It was a 1.99 ORing from audi. It was dripping coolant on to the top of the transmission housing and coming down by the differential. The leaking substance was oily and not pink so i thought it was gear oil. Turns out audi G12 is a lubricant as well for the water pump and coolant system.
