Default Clutch Q: I know my clutch is nearing the end of it's life. Looking for some options.

I am yet to talk this over with my mechanic yet, but I Just want to get some feelers on what I am looking at.

First how much labor is really involved? How many hours is my guy likely to charge me for?

Second, what's a good way to go? I checked out ECS and I see they have all these crazy applications for $1500. I'm not really interested in dropping that kind of coin and also I just don't think i'll ever have my car into the power range. I drive the fairly easy for a large majority of the time. Very few hard launches, but I will get on it through some curvy areas from time to time all while working through the gears pretty hard.

Should I just go stock? Is there a good deal out there with some company I'm not thinking of? I know my friend has a Spec in his B5 that he is really happy with, and I think drives very nicely. He explained to me though that Spec had many clutches go bad. any feedback on that?

There is some negative feedback floating around on Specs I believe. I'd go with Southbend.

If you have 2 really good Audi techs, they can tackle it within 2-3hrs. I heard quotes up to 7hrs

Default Go with a Southbend OFE HD ...

it will take care of torque up to K04's (unless you want to launch all the time). It's reasonably priced and proven. If you need more clutch then just go to the SS version for $135. more. (I went this route at the same time a s a BT and am very happy with it). Call Andy @ SBC and he'll give you the goods.

BTW, I'd be happy to sell you my OEM clutch for $100. (no flywheel) ;-)

Southbend Clutch

I'd personally would be very wary of a used clutch. How many miles when you removed it?
