Mom in need of Audi help ... 2005 A4
Im not sure if Im posting this in the right spot but I have 2 questions that I cant seem to find answers to anywhere else
1. My right brake light just went out and I was wondering if I needed to order a dealer one or if its something I can purchase at Kragen or another auto store.
2. I have had this extremely loud whistling coming from the car. It sound like my turbo my be going out but when I start my car, it sounds like I have started a jet up. Has anyone else had this issue.
Thank you in advance!

1) I usually just get light bulbs from the local auto parts store. Just remove the old on and take with you.
2) Assuming your car still runs okay and there is no Check Engine Light, the whistling sound on start up only is usually something called the Secondary Air Injector Pump. It runs on start-up and then intermittently after that.

The car is still running fine but he sound is super loud and then after like 3 mins, dies down and sounds like a jet shutting off. Is this something that needs to be looked at?
Thank you for your help with the bulb...I will take it in today

I'd second the Secondary air pump then.
it runs on start up to blow more air through the exhaust to thin out the fumes till your catalyst gets warm and starts filtering more efficiently.
Its not critical to the operation of the car, just emissions related. Eventually it will give a check engine light and you wont pass emissions with that on. If you can live with the sound you can keep running it, if not they are $200-$800 depending of if you buy OEM or off brand. Labor shouldn't been too much, couple hours maybe.

Agree - mine on the 2.7TT had exactly the same noise.
For the 1.8T the pump is P/N 06A959253E. Europaparts have a really good price under $300. Any mechanic can do it, you don't need the dealer who will charge you about $650 for the same pump plus the install at a higher labour rate than your local shop.

They tend to get louder as they start to go out.
Mine has been making more noise over the last two years, started giving me a CEL about 9 months ago.
I just delete it and keep going, maybe this summer I'll think about replacing it.

The noise can be caused by a blown out or disconnected hose, or a bad pump. If you have a bad pump you will likely have to replace the EGR on the back of the block because it is allowing condensation to flow back into the pump and destroying it.
Like others have said, you can wait it out if you can stand the noise. It may also be an easy and cheap fix that you get after with electrical tape and a flashlight.
