Not sure I should join in because this may only inflame, but here goes:
1) First, in the U.S., there is only a 3 day return policy. Other than that, there is no warranty required. Some dealers or second hand shops will offer 90 days "warranty" for free or for you to purchase a "warranty". But, buyer beware because these are really insurance companies and have a very bad reputation with these "warranties", maybe worse than dealers.
2) There is no way this was a CPO; way too many miles. I just bought an 2013 S5 with 35,000 and it was close to too many miles to be CPO
3) Recalls are tricky and almost never transfer to second owners unless there is a clear maintenance history. What was the maintenance history? The carfax will generally just tell you title and accident history although some are better than that.
4) As far as the dealer, I have gone through something similar with my 300ZX Turbo years ago, the first thing you have to understand is that Audi has little leverage on the dealer. The dealer is a franchise and if they are not honest business people, then they are not honest business people. Audi has very little leverage on the franchise, i.e. they cannot demand the dealer do anything. It is not part of the business arrangement between Audi and the dealer. As for my dealer, they aren't cheap, but they are forthright in everything they tell me, but I know that comes from the top.
