Default non flashing engine light on

I have a 2004 audi a4 3.0 Quattro avant, my car has about 181000 miles on it, the check engine light came in today while i was driving, i know i need a new battery, will change it soon. I was wondering if the faulty battery has anything to do with the engine light, or do i have another problem i have to worry about?

Have you found the little drawer under the drivers seat? That compartment is for the $20 elcheapo Audi/VW code reader that you are going to order on amazon/ebay right now.

5 minutes later: GOOD, now your code reader is in the mail. To be on the safe side, bring the car to a shop and have them scan it. They can tell you what the car needs and if it is harmful to drive the car.

Soon enough the day will come when your code reader arrives in the mail. The shop has a bigger scanner than you, so don't go measuring. However, the handly little device you keep under your seat allows you to check and clear future engine, abs, airbag, and transmission codes. So next time a light on the dash appears, simply plug in, get the code, type in the code on Google. Go ahead, search "Audi 16815" for practice.
