Default RAM air intake

I was planing on replacing the OEM air box with a short ram intake, and wanted to cut the high beam part of the headlight out to allow more air to enter. I would put a cone filter pointed to the rear of the car to prevent water from getting in there. Would this be a good way to get power or is it better to stay stock?

Not sure if you are still monitoring and I've been gone for 3 weeks, but couldn't help respond.

1) Cutting out your headlight would make you car not registerable (is that a word?) at least where I live as well as just not smart at least in my book if you plan on driving the car at night.
2) the horsepower gain on CAI or RAM air systems is smaller compared to other options. I bet you would not be able to discern the difference...

Ram air intake on a 1.8T? Won't make a bit of difference. The OEM intake will keep the intake air cooler and provides all the flow that the K03 can handle.
