Secondary Air Injection System for 2003 audi TT quattro
I had the 2 vacuum hose changed out because they were looking dried out and about to go bad. After switching the hoses out the car ran fine for a while and then check engine light came on. I had the code checked and it was for a vacuum leak. I've checked the hoses and they are fine. I am wondering if it is the Secondary Air Injection Pump. Also how much damage will this cause if I cannot replace the pump anytime soon?

Spend $100 and get an Autel 505. It'll tell you if there is "low flow" through the pump, plus all sorts of other diagnostic stuff. If you want to buy a new SAI pump, your friendly dealer wants 600 or so for it. Used ones are 75. There's another thread recently on here which talks about another piece that gets condensation in it and can apparently cause a new unit to fail in 6 months. Look around.

This is a very very common issue. I have had it on my car for some time. So if you DO buy a used one, it will likely be junk too.
It does not affect the running of the car one bit.
