Default Is there any safety cut out between auto gear and engine

I use audi a4 1.9 tdi 2004 automatic front wheel drive, I put my foot down accidentally the engine speeds went up high the front wheel spun on the road but after the engine speed calmed down my car won't move in any gear. I just wonder in the case of the engine speed shoot up for what ever reasons (in audi a4) how is the power would cut off the gear for safety. I think my car got is suffering from this safety cutoff system.
Is there anyone knows about this please help.

CVTs are notorious for having internal clutch failures. That sounds like the issue you are having. Only way to know is take to a reputable german car specialist and have them diagnose.
