What is this?
Hello,
just bought a 2004 A4 Convertible and I can't seem to figure out what this component on the dash is for.
Looks like the 'Door' front should hinge open but can't figure it out and don't want to apply too much force since every ABS plastic component on this car is fragile.
Thanks.

Is that a B6 interior and / or is the cab different? My B6 has square vents and only trim above the hazard light / cup holder.
Post either in the cab forum or B7 forum. Almost looks like where a nav screen would pop out...

I'll never complain about having more storage..... But I'm definitely not missing this in my sedan.
I would gently try to pry it open since that picture shows how it swings down. But with 10 years of sun and heat on plastic it might just crack. Good luck!

Thanks... yup, I guess they were looking for another useless component where they could add crappy plastic hinges.
I love this car but, man oh man, there are a lot of brittle plastic snaps and hinges that are failing.
Anyway, it can be removed as as a unit quite easily and I will gently see what happens - I assume it pushes in then pops down.
