Factory Xenon lights
Has anyone replaced their xenon lights? Thinking about replacing mine due to the age of the car (2002) because I read somewhere they fade over time. Second question, I have seen replacement bulbs for $100 a pair all the way to $400 a pair. Do you get what you pay for? Thanks.

Actually, I have the same question. My lights occasionally dip but return quickly. I have 231,000 mile and still going strong. Beside light bulbs, I may have other problems with dipping but would like to start with the bulb.

I think you both need to clarify what you are asking about. I believe Xeon is a brand of bulb made in China that one might find on eBay.
Audi HID - Xenon bulbs would have a part number such as D1S or D2S, etc. These bulbs come in different colors measured in units of Kelvin (K). I think you can buy better quality Xenon bulbs for US$30 or so.

Xenon is a gas inside the bulbs.... Sone halogen bulbs actually have xenon gas in them, so the slang herm xenons doesn't actually mean you have HID's, though that's how everyone uses it.
I've tried cheap bulbs in the past but they would usually go out after a few years, one kept taking the ballest out with it. Three new ballasts and two bulbs inside 2 months was enough to make me buy nice bulbs for the rest of my life.
Get genuine osram or Phillips bulbs, they look nicer, provide more light and will out last the cheap stuff.
I got my osram 5k's For $169 (a pair) way more then eBay, but worth it to not have to worry about them.

I have the factory xenon bulbs that still work but are 12 years old. I was wondering do they fade or get dimmer over time (not as bright) and if so I was looking to replace them and what to replace them with, factory or aftermarket. Thanks.

I've had bad luck with aftermarket bulbs, stick to Osram or Phillips brand.
They will fade over the years, if you only replaced one you would notice, I wouldn't worry about it unless you see a big difference in light output or want to change the color of them.
