The 2009 convertible always got the B7 platform while the sedan got the B8 platform and they both have the 2.0L T engine. Audi annonced on those years that all of the starting 2009 2.0L engine will have a timing chain instead of a timing belt. So can we say that the 2.0L engine on the B7 convertible got the timing chain ?

No, because the B7 convertible, although a 2009, still uses the EA113 engine that all othe B7 used, while all B8's use the EA888...

You can confirm that in several ways:

1) Find the label on the front plastic cover of the engine.

2) The engine code is also punched somewhere on the cylinder head, but it may be hard to find. The letters are formed by dots.

3) Find the factory delivery sticker tag. Good dealers stick it on the first page of the maintenance booklet. I found mine in the spare tire well. That tag has all the model numbers of your VIN, chasis, engine, transmission, etc.

4) I have the ElsaWin manual that covers up-to 2009 model. If you really want to confirm, send me your VIN.
