I need some practical advice


Window, door locks and mirror are not working. Determined that it is either the wire in the door or the switch module on the driver side because the dome light also stays on after door closes and engine is on, so something is not relaying.


My question is: Can I just replace the switch or is there also software upload or computer interface require? I got screwed with that on the Volvo V70 for 1,000 bucks few years ago? Figured I would ask before taking the trim off and installing the switch.


Real question is Do I need the dealer to do this or is it simply mechanical? I am no rocket scientist, but can do simpler fixes unless the computer is involved.

Window, door locks, mirror, interior light are 4 different circuits/switches. Check for broken wires in the door jamb, then check if there are any codes on the central convenience module. A local Audi fan with VCDS should be able to help you with that. Let us know you locaton and someone may volunteer.

Thank you, very helpful. In Detroit area. Where would I find the convenience module on a 2007 A4 Q? I will look at the door jam. I disconnected the battery to see if rebooting the system would help but it did not. I am guessing it's a switch or wire problem. The dome light works but the sensor from the door to the light is not triggering the dome light to dim when door closes. Door locks work from passenger, but not driver door. Everything relates to driver door and switches.
