How to Avoid MMI on B7?
I'm thinking of buying another Audi, this time a used A4 Avant 2.0T, either B7 or B8. I really like traditional buttons and switches, so I'd like to avoid MMI for audio, climate control, etc. The problem is that while shopping online it's very hard to determine which A4s have it and which don't. I've tried looking at the various model-year documents available here, but none of them quite spells this out.
My best theory at this point is that if a B7 does NOT have navigation, then it does NOT have MMI. Can anyone confirm this for me, or tell me another "rule" that works? Thanks.

Have you already tried using the Audi MMI - it's really not that bad. On the B7 only the NAV side of things is full MMI, however on the B8 more of the base functions are tied in with MMI.
If you really want to avoid, then a B7 with the Symphony II/II+ radio is what you will be looking for.
Personally, I would try and find one with the MMI as I beleive it provides a better integrated environment.

I can see why you dont want it. For some reason every MMI car Audi has the amp/control module located exactly where water or washer fluid pours on it and then it costs thousands to repair, an they make it so you cant just buy a used one and install it. Not a good system for any kind of long term car ownership. Iv used the system in A6's and A8s, and the similar one in BMWs. I feel its a total hassle and obnoxiously complicated with so many menues and switches and bull****. What happened to just driving a car.....
