We've updated the our reliability stats for the A4 and S4 to include owner experiences through June 30, 2012.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2009 A4: 42, about average
2008 A4: 58, about average
2008 S4: 81, worse than average, small sample size
2007 A4: 63, about average
2007 S4: 62, about average, small sample size
2005.5-
2006 A4: 83, worse than average
2005.5-
2006 S4: 64, about average
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

A4 2.0 TDi B7 2007 model dipstick
I'm brand new to the forum. So, please bear with me if this topic has already been thrashed out . . . The shaft of the oil dipstick of my Audi A4 2.0 TDi (B7) is round, black colour and very thin . .. all making it almost impossible to take an accurate reading. I don't want to rely on oil level sensor only, but want to check oil level manually from time to time. Have you also encountered this challenge and how does one solve it? I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. Availability of fancy parts is sometimes a bit of a challenge out here.
Any useful hints, tips, tricks and solutions will be very welcome.
