B7 Avant cargo room?
We're looking into the B7 Avant to replace our Volt for daily driver duties.
Our main want, above my wants for a man-trans turbo wagon, is room for my wife's rigid wheelchair in the cargo area without breaking it down each time.
So, what are the measurements from the floor to ceiling in the cargo area, and from the top of the back seats to the hatch lid?

Hatch entry is approx 27" high, 42" wide and about 28" between the hatch glass and top of back seat when hatch is closed. Be conservative with those measurements though as you may have other clearance issues when loading/unloading depending on angle etc.
Honestly, I don't think it will handle a rigid wheelchair but feel free to prove me wrong. Good luck.

Sounds like it would have to go transverse instead of longitudinal, but it should fit. Chair is 26.75" tall at the tops of the backrest posts, 24.5 wide at the bottom of the pushrims (cambered, so that's the widest part) and 33.5 long from the back edge of the tires to the front.
Thanks for taking the time to measure!

The rear window has a slope to it, and my measurement was at the level of the top of the back seat so the width may still be a problem. If you fold the back seat down you will have more depth for that 24.5 in dimension though.
Guess next step is to find an Avant at a dealer and see if you can make it fit :-)

Wound up purchasing a 2007 Avant that was posted on here. Chair fits like it was made to fit in this car, longitudinally. Perfect!
Thanks for the help.
