Default Buying Information

Hey guys,

I'm recently in the market for a used car (new to me). I've gone from a BMW to a SAAB, but have always wanted an AUDI. Unfortunately I am new to AUDI's and a student and only have 7,000 to spend. I have looked at a couple of audi's which all have around 140,000 miles and have noticed they all have a ticking noise in the engine. From what I've read this is normal and so is oil consumption. Is there anything I should look for in particular that would say otherwise? or any other audi specific problems should know about?

Thanks!

If you can't afford to upkeep this car by either experienced euro audi/vw mechanic or know how to wrench a car I would reevaluate your choices.

7g's for a student is big money, usually.

Just visit any Audi forum and look at the myriad of challenges facing the owners. 90k miles and up is maintenance heavy for any Audi.

Great cars, but upkeep is always on the plate.

These motors sound different naturally because they're direct injection. Or the cam chain tensioner - excessive noise in that vicinity could be worn tensioner and chain.

Could be you're hearing the injectors as well.

Many reasons without being there....good luck
