Here it is Aug of 2014 and I just read this post. What a great post. I bought my first A5 a couple of days ago and was wondering how to do this very thing. Thanks for all the effort in making this thread.

2004 a8 3.00 quatro, dash tells me a problem with rear drivers side light, looked at loads of forums and different sites, not a lot of info on a8. is there an easy way to remove the light cluster, looks to be 2 bolts inside the boot, not the single flat head screw i've seen for a4 and a6, Any infor would be appreciated, pic would be wonderful.
