Entering menu in the DIS

Entering menu in the DIS
According to the users manual it states to access the menu in the DIS is to use the 'reset' button on the wiper stalk... unfortunately my stalk does not have this button.
Is there another option in the car, another button that serves the same purpose?
Reason I am asking is that the previous owner was from Quebec and I am in Ontario, so the DIS is in French.
Is the only option to purchase a vag-com? If so is it possible to purchase used vag-coms and software or is it registered to a specific VIN?
