Help educate a new guy on performance
So I have recently begun looking for some beginner mods to make.
This is my first vehicle with a turbo I've read that a CAI is not necessary. Can anyone confirm this? I do not need the science behind it, but just confirm that I am better off getting a drop in filter for the existing air box...along the lines that the turbo will essentially "cancel out" the benefits of the CAI?
Also I am interested in which mods I should be making as a new Audi owner. Best bang for the buck. Anything from performance to cosmetic, I am open to all suggestions.
I just don't want to get burned on spending too much for too little. I have learned with my charger that there are usually some pretty awesome third party companies that offer great products and fair prices.
thanks much.

That said, your car has a lot of options. The best is probably GIAC Performance Software unlocking 41hp and 75 ft-lbs.
Next is Exhaust and Downpipe. This will show gains of around 12hp and 8ft-lbs, but it will give your A4 a really nice sound.
I would start with that. If you want to see everything that is available. Just go here. Products Search Results | AWE Tuning

OP welcome to the Audi world. Please be advised that your A4 is a CVT transmission. More importantly combined with the year that your transmission falls under, I wouldn't suggest modding. If the tranny is healthy then do your best to keep it that way. It's your car and your decisions rule it, but do your research - then make a decision on whether or not you want to proceed. I don't want to get too technical on the why's. People will disagree.

I remember reading that repairs or replacements on a CVT are extremely costly. That being said I do not plan on making any modifications to make the vehicle track worthy or even to add 100+ HP. I am mainly looking at small things to give a little more punch in the acceleration, make the vehicle more highway passing friendly essentially. I don't drive to boast my cars capability, I just prefer a little more than the car already offers..... Hopefully you know what I mean
