Is a high mileage audi worth the risk??
Hey guys I hope Im in the right forum for this but Im looking to buy an 07 A4 S-line Titanium package with 117000 miles on it. The car looks immaculate and it seems to have been taken care of from what I can see. The camshaft, timing belt and fuel pump have all been replaced in the last 15000 miles so that reassures me a little because from what Ive been reading those are usually problems with the car. But either way is it worth taking the risk on this car or should I keep looking? Also The asking price is 11500 which seems high, does that seem high to anyone else? Thanks for the help!!

That's way too expensive for that year, model and mileage. I bought a '07 A4 2.0T base model with 62,900 miles last year for $9.8k. Mileage is everything for a hard working 4 cylinder. A V6 with the same mileage should last longer.

My 3.2 has 215k miles and still going strong. Maintenance is key to long life. I bought the car with 200k miles on the ODO...but I have maintained it since 50k. I always used Liqui Moly and changed the oil every 5k miles. The only "major" thing it ever came in the shop for was carboned(stuck) runners and that was due to cheap gas. Other than that the PO always had me "over maintain" the car and that's the only reason I singed the check when she came up for sale.

I have an 06 2.0T that I have owned since new. It has 127k miles on it. It is the best car I have ever owned. Some things are now starting to go. Some smaller stuff, like the window switch and both xeon bulbs. I've had to do my center resonator. the motor mounts are starting to leak. That said, the car still runs well. If I was to sell it I think it is worth $8-9K and mine is a fully loaded S-line so I think the price you are looking at is high.

This might help you making a choice to buy or not. I have owned 4 Audi's and all have been used. Number one thing is maintenance and I typically ask for records or car fax report if I am serious about the car. Second is looking around at other cars in the area and I let the buyer know I am willing to drive to other areas to get a car that is priced respectively.
I have a 06 A4 B7 2.0t Quattro 6 speed manual with 194,000 miles. I bought it in rough shape at 160,000 miles and the guy wanted $5,500 for it. Talked him down to $4,200 since he didn't know the history of the car I told him I would be doing the work to make sure it runs right or he can hold onto it and wait for someone else. After some maintenance it runs great! Also got a 2012 Audi Q5 2.0t with 117,00 miles. If you are not comfortable or don't know enough about the car mechanically to make sure it's sound I would take it to a shop first.
Hope this helps, but now way would I pay that much for the car.

I got a 2007 A4 B7 2.0T Quattro from IAA for 500$. I did the timing belt and all the cam tensioner and follower. (Cost about 1200) so for 1700$ I have a great A4. Yea its not perfect, but after doing all the maint, changing all fluids...its a good price for an Audi no matter how you look at it.
BTW, the mileage was 184,xxx when I got it. So yea, high mileage but i see this gen go up for sale with many cars approaching 200k...some have over 200k miles on them. (and sellers still want 4500$) LOL
If you take care of them they will last. They are built well.
In my case I had to resurrect it from heading to the scrap yard as previous owner didn't want to do the timing belt and cam tensioner. It ran rough when I got it..had little to no power.
