These are the black rubber "mud flaps" that Audi sells. I'm considering them for my A4... against snow and slush (4 season car!).
Anyone have any thoughts? Yeah, I know they look like hell...but besides that. -10HP at least.

http://audi.autowebaccessories.com/store/audi-a4-splash-guards-prod1151_11388.php</a

I'm thinking about getting them as well. I posted this question a while back on AZ...
The guy had pics where the mud flaps looked acceptable. He said that they had damaged the paint a little from debis getting between the rubber mud flap and the paint. Not good...

You could install 3M tape behind the mud flaps...
I can't decide on this either. I live in the snow belt and the crap weather is nearly upon us. They'll be spreading sand everyday we get a little freezing rain. Not looking forward to driving my beautiful black car in that every day.
Right now I'm leaning towards not installing them, but I'm not certain yet.

We get alot of snow here......
I was going to install the splash guards, but after one winter without them I decided against it. And not because they wouldn't look good.
While I do think they might have helped protect my paint from mud and gravel, I think they would be horrible for snow.... especially slushy snow.
I have the stock suspension and even with my enormous wheel gap, snow gets compacted in the wheel well at an alarming rate. I seem to have to dig out my wheel wells every day after I've been driving in heavy snow. It also ice dams right where the splash guards would be.
I think the splash guards would make that problem much worse.
