Default Rookie question

Hey guys noob question.

Im going to cut to the chase, so what is this part of my engine?

I've got no idea, i took the cover off and seemed like there was some kind of small actuator, something to do with exhaust system . It was actually broken, the circular ring holding the 'drive' shaft had split in two. Whats it function, what adverse effects from it being broken am i likely to see?

Here it is with the cover off

On other news my thermostat and alternator have now been replaced the car is alive. Some of the guides/threads here were very helpful despite nothing much written about the 2.0l non turbo (boring ***) version.

B7 2.0 non turbo engine

Cheers

Close up of part

I'm not sure since that engine isn't in Audi vehicles for the USA market. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

I can't believe I'm answering this. I took a wild guess and just think you're in Africa. Maybe a 2007, with the ALT engine block code. We don't have this engine in the States.

That's simply called your intake drive unit Part #06B133619C. Could be the equivalent of our intake manifold control runner motor. Here's a link to a website that sells them or something(British flag).

Your welcome if you ever see this.

Hey Dolamite,

They sold this engine in Australia. Its a 2005 B7, non turbo 2.0L fsi. Appreciate the help with the part number!!

Believe my intake drive unit has been broken for a while, what detrimental effect would this have on the car? Seems to still drive okay.

Thanks again

Proper airflow can be restricted having a direct impact on your fuel trims. I'm pretty sure you have the ALT engine block. Get it fixed if you know for sure that the part is toast.
