Strange noise while accelarating
Hi guys,
Car model is 2006 A4 B7 1.8T, automatic.
This has happened a couple days ago and I would like to know if it is a known problem with the car.
Driving home I noticed that when I started to accelerate at low gears ( peak hour traffic) there was a strange noise (buzzing/winding) coming from somewhere in the engine/gearbox. To be honest I don't know if it was happening at higher gears as I started to drive like a granny when it started happening.
This has happened to me a total of 3 times since I had the car and each time was during rather hot weather after driving for an extend period of time.
The only thing I can think of is that during hot weather something in the gearbox/engine expands enough to start rubbing against something else when accelerating. Noise seems to go away when off the throttle.
Has anyone experienced anything similar.. should I be worried?
Cheers,
Adam
