i'm looking at buying an A4 quattro. Is there something i should specifically check or look out for?

Given the forum you posted in, I'm assuming you're looking at a B7 A4. Based on my experience I'd look at the following:

• Verify timing belt replacement (depending on mileage)
• Motor mounts
• HP Fuel pump cam follower
• Glove box hinges (inspect for broken plastic part especially on the right side)
• In looking at general condition, I'd spend some extra time looking at all the electronics to make sure they all work properly.

Just bought an '06 convertible w/3.0L a few weeks ago, book says change timing belt & plugs at 75K for that engine. I think 2.0L engine is 100K for both of those items. I can't really add to the previous reply other than I points mentioned. but it would be a good idea, if possible, to have your mechanic take a look at it.
