I currently own a 2008 A4 2.0T 6Speed w/ APR Stage 1 software. I want to get a larger turbo, maybe a K04 etc. installed. I have done research into the costs associated with purchasing a new turbo and have a few questions revolving around the price of installation and also applicable software needs. Firstly when looking at APR's website I see they offer a K04 package that is $3000. That is more than I'm willing to pay for a K04.

My question is simply; If I just install a new K04 that I have access to, what else would I need? Is there an ECU tune that I could download or would the turbo just work after being bolted on? Thanks in advance!

Usually big turbo means a tune and often bigger intercooler to handle the extra heat, and in many cases a new manifold or downpipe that is less restrictive. That also assumes the stock fuel pump and injectors are up to the extra fueling that will come with the big turbo tune, so you may need to upgrade those as well. I think you'll be lucky to get it all done for $3,000.

I think it might be more cost effective to sell your A4 and buy an S4 which I believe already has the bigger turbo and probably more potential gains with a stage 1 or 2 tune. (disclaimer, I have no idea what older S4s go for these days....)
